• Celebrating 40 Years of Changing Lives

Since 1982, PaRC has proudly served the Houston area with evidence-based substance use disorder treatment. Let’s look at where we started and where we’re heading.

A Message from PaRC’s CEO

Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) – formerly part of Memorial Hermann and currently owned and operated by Discovery Behavioral Health – is celebrating 40 years of continual service to the Greater Houston area as well as throughout the nation. PaRC has been a leader in the substance use disorder industry. We took treatment out of medical and surgical institutions and into an arena where patients could receive individual, therapeutic attention from both medical and clinical professionals, engage in life-saving skills, and focus on the root cause of their substance use disorder. Our evidenced-based treatment model is designed for long-term behavioral change, sustaining our growth as a national provider and now, with 144 inpatient beds and multiple outpatient opportunities, we can serve both adolescents and adults in need as well as plan for continued growth in the years ahead.

In recent years, we have witnessed a desperate and growing need for our evidence-based services. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported an estimated 100,306 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 2021; that equates to approximately 275 overdose deaths per day! That’s why we’re doing everything we can to meet the demand and reach people in need.

We believe everyone deserves a happy, rewarding life. And when quality behavioral healthcare is within reach, so is happiness. We are proud to have helped thousands of patients discover their path to the full and rewarding lives they deserve, and we look forward to continued service in the years ahead.
