Meet Our Team

Lara Offenburger PA-C
Chief Executive Officer

Lara has been with Discovery Behavioral health since January of 2019 serving in multiple leadership positions. As a medical provider, Lara has provided leadership working both within substance use facilities as a lead medical provider as well as throughout the division as a medical quality and compliance manager. Lara was the COO at PaRC and is now the CEO. In her role, Lara utilizes this background to support the exceptional teams within the facility to provide the highest quality care for each patient.  After graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2001, Lara has focused her career on providing exceptional care to medically underserved populations. With her background in internal medicine, she obtained additional training in psychiatry, HIV specialty care, and substance abuse treatment to bring a unique and holistic approach to care for each individual patient. When not at work Lara enjoys filling her day with volunteer work and international travel focusing on learning from diverse and varied cultures.

Corey Odol
Chief Operating Officer

Corey has been with Discovery Behavioral Health since December 2023 and first served as the regional director of admissions. He soon moved into the COO role in February 2024. Corey is a business development executive that has worked in behavioral health across the country. While residing in Washington, DC, he worked for UHS and increased the revenue of the hospital by 65 percent, making it the fastest growing hospital in DC. As a result, he has been called on as an expert development executive throughout the region. In 2019, he was appointed by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to serve as a commissioner on the Commission on Healthcare Systems Transformation to advise and make recommendations on strategies and investments necessary to transform health care delivery in the nation’s capital. Corey also formed a training institute in collaboration with the University of Maryland and Bowie State to house the only nationally accredited Peer Recovery Coach training program, along with many other programs that are disruptors in the behavioral health industry.  When not working, Corey enjoys spending time outdoors, at the beach and international travel. Fun fact: Corey is an Eagle Scout and served as an assistant scoutmaster.

Mike Leath, M.D.
Medical Director

Mike has worked The Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) since 2004, starting as a staff physician, then later becoming the Medical Director. He has been with Discovery Behavioral Health since the transition in 2021. Prior to joining the PaRC, he worked in Family and ER medicine. He attended Texas A&M University, then graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and did his residency in Family Medicine at Memorial Family Medicine in Houston, TX. He is board certified in both Family and Addiction Medicine. Mike has been sober since 2003 and uses his personal knowledge and passion of addiction and recovery to help his patients succeed as they begin their personal journey. In his spare time, Mike enjoys any and everything outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time with his awesome family.

Carlos Guerra Jr., M.D.
Director of Psychiatry

Carlos Guerra, Jr., M.D. received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas A & M University in 1985. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1989. He completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry from Baylor College of Medicine in 1992 and his fellowship in Child Psychiatry from Baylor College of Medicine in 1994. He is board certified. Dr. Guerra was the Medical Director for the Children’s and Adolescent Unit at Spring Shadows Glen from 1995 to 1999. While Medical Director for the Children’s and Adolescent Unit, Dr. Guerra was appointment Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Division of Child Psychiatry for Baylor College of Medicine. He was the Medical Director for Spring Shadows Glen from 1999 to 2000. He also served as Chief of Staff at Spring Shadows Glen in 1999. He has served as the Medical Director for the Memorial-Hermann Rapid Psychiatric Response Team since 2000. He has been on the clinical staff at PaRC since its inception in November 2000. In August 2008, Dr. Guerra accepted the position as Medical Director for Adolescent Psychiatric Services at PaRC and works with chemically dependent adolescents and adults. He was in private practice for over 20-years and was involved in numerous clinical pharmaceutical research trials. He supervises medical students from UTMB, physician assistant students from University of North Texas Health Science Center, and nurse practitioner students from several different nursing programs. Since 2011, Dr. Guerra has served as one of two medical directors for Interfaith EAP. In 2014, Dr. Guerra accepted the position to oversee Memorial Hermann’s Urgent/Emergency Outpatient Psychiatric Clinics. Dr. Guerra is bilingual and is fluent in English and Spanish. 

Traci Gauen, MA, LPC-S, LCDC
Director of Clinical Services

Traci graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University with a degree in Psychology and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University. Traci is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. She began working at Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) in 2011. Traci has experience in treating patients with chronic pain, substance use disorders, and mental health disorders, as well as experience working with both adult and adolescent patients. Traci’s treatment philosophy includes the dialectical notion that we are doing the best we can and can do better, how self-talk plays a significant and powerful role in shaping one’s life, and how sharing one’s life story and being vulnerable contributes to the healing process. Traci enjoys spending her free time with her family, being outdoors, and watching movies.

Resha Shah, LPC, LCDC
Regional Director of Care Coordination

Resha is currently the regional director of care coordination for New Hope Ranch and PaRC (Prevention and Recovery Center). Resha joined PaRC in October 2017. She began her career in the mental health and substance abuse field in 2013 and holds a Master of Arts degree in psychology. Resha gained most of her clinical experience working with children with mental health concerns and then working with adults who struggled with addiction. She has served in various leadership positions across all levels of care. Resha is passionate about the field and enjoys advocating for our patients. Outside of work, Resha enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. 

Xavier Harris, MBA
Director of Facility Operations

Xavier currently serves as Director of Facility Operations with PaRC Discovery Behavioral Health; he has been with PaRC for over 14 years. In addition, Xavier has been working in behavioral health for 22 years. He started as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and has held various leadership roles. Xavier graduated from DeVry University in 2017, magna cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Health Care Management. In 2020, he received his master’s degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. Xavier is detailed-oriented, a multitasker, and has a unique gift of being an extraordinary leader. In his free time, Xavier enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and completing projects.

Lisa Walker
Director of Quality Management

Lisa is currently serving as the Director of Quality Management for PaRC Behavioral Health. Lisa started at PaRC over 12 years ago as a Patient Access Specialist and has held various roles in admissions, data analysis, quality, and education. Lisa oversees all regulatory compliance for the facility and believes in providing a quality experience through communication and connection with our patients. She is part of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2009 and holds a B.S. in Education from Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing an M.B.A. with Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. During her free time, Lisa is planning trips to Disneyworld with her husband, beautiful children, and new puppy.

Ahmad Belton
Director of Patient Experience

Ahmad started his career at PaRC in May 2022. His plan is to develop and train the BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) staff with focused importance on customer service and overall patient experience satisfaction. Ahmad attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, TN. Ahmad started in the Behavioral Health field in 1996 as a Behavioral Health Tech and Case Manager for Cerebral Palsy. Prior to starting at PaRC, over the past 15 years Ahmad has been a CPI Instructor, Milieu/Program Manager. Ahmad aspires to one day operate his own Foster Home. Ahmad loves family gatherings and traveling.
