Covid Clean Commitment

COVID Clean Commitment Update – Winter 2022

As COVID-19 community infection levels continue to rise, we want you to know that Discovery facilities remain vigilant.  We continue to practice distancing, masking, hand washing and recommend immunizations and flu shots for all staff.

For family members and patients interested in more information on boosters, you can visit the CDC’s webpage and use the “Find Out When you Can Get Your Booster tool” to determine your eligibility and to schedule an appointment. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html

COVID Clean Commitment Update – Summer 2022

We’ve seen airlines and other mass transit change their requirements for masks but at Discovery we are committed to maintaining our original mask policies. Keeping patients and staff safe is our number one priority.

COVID Clean Commitment Update – Spring 2022

This year, CDC released new COVID-19 Community Levels recommendations but these recommendations do not apply to healthcare settings.  As a healthcare provider, we continue to review community transmission rates and continue to follow CDC’s infection prevention and control recommendations for healthcare settings.

COVID Clean Commitment Update – January 2022

Information about COVID-19 changes rapidly. We continue to follow the CDC’s “COVID–19 Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations” and “Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control.” We are committed to creating a safe environment for staff, patients and families through our residential, outpatient and virtual programs.

During this period of rapidly changing directives and information, we are committed to staff education, compliance and clinical rigor with medically-based initiatives.

COVID Clean Commitment Update – Winter 2021/2022

With increased state mandates about COVID vaccines for healthcare workers, we are ensuring that all facilities nationwide are in compliance with respective state mandates and with our own rigorous standards of safety and protection for staff and patients.   We follow the CDC’s “COVID–19 Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations” and “Guidelines for Environmental Infection Control,”

We will provide on-site testing for employees in states that require weekly testing.  For those states that do not have mandates, we will still uphold our CDC and OSHA informed policies and procedures to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff.

With the recently released OSHA guidelines, we have implemented standardized protocols on facility cleaning and sanitizing,  handwashing, personal protective equipment, social distancing, door screening, and case investigations.  We continue to educate employees on best practices and answer questions and concerns related to compliance with state mandates.

During this period of rapidly changing directives and information, we are committed to staff education, compliance and clinical rigor with medically-based initiatives.

COVID Clean Commitment Update – Fall 2021

With increased state mandates about COVID vaccines for healthcare workers, we are ensuring that all facilities nationwide are in compliance with respective state mandates and with our own rigorous standards of safety and protection for staff and patients.   We will provide on-site testing for employees in states that require weekly testing.  For those states that do not have mandates, we will still uphold our CDC-informed policies and procedures to protect the health and safety of our clients and patient.  This includes regular facility cleaning and sanitizing,  handwashing, personal protective equipment, and masks.  We continue to educate employees on best practices and answer questions and concerns related to compliance with state mandates.

Because the safety and health of our patients and staff is top priority, we are committed to the following standards of enhanced environmental cleanliness at every facility:

  • Frequent sanitizing of light switches, door handles and knobs
  • Cleaning individual-use items after each use
  • Cleaning group rooms after use and sanitizing the milieu at least once per day
  • Screening each new admission multiple times prior to arrival at the facility
  • Screening all staff, patients and visitors at the door prior to entering our buildings
  • Requiring all staff to wear face coverings while in the facility; face coverings are strongly recommended for all patients and visitors
