PaRC - Relapse Prevention

Relapse Prevention

Relapse prevention is part of PaRC’s inpatient as well as the outpatient program. While you are in treatment at PaRC, all residents participate in relapse prevention. These meetings are group discussions which are designed to build on the skills that enhance and sustain your recovery. After you leave our facility, you may choose to continue in an alcoholic and drug addiction relapse prevention group.

Group Meetings: How They Work

At meetings three times each week, group attendees discuss various topics including relapse warning signs, triggers and coping skills. Other topics include the challenges and successes participants are having in recovery.

The treatment method used in relapse prevention is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), proven to help treat people with addiction.

Each relapse prevention group is facilitated by a PaRC alumnus with proven success in recovery and who is trained in CBT methods. A PaRC aftercare coordinator, who is thoroughly trained and vetted, oversees the groups.

Preventing Relapses Fosters Success

When you leave PaRC and begin an aftercare program, you may choose to continue with relapse prevention activities. Groups are open and free of charge to PaRC alumni.

Some PaRC alumni forge lifelong friendships with other group members and facilitators and continue to attend meetings for many years. Alumni are always welcome to come to the campus for a group meeting to connect with friends and sharpen their skills.
